FX Open Drift Series, March '11
The 3rd installment of the FX Open Drift series took place from 25th to 28th March at the brand new Speed City, KL. With a grand prize worth RM100,000, the top of the crop in Malaysian drift scene was there in action. The newly laid track proved to be a huge challenge with lot's of drivers falling victim to the unforgiving concrete barriers. Biggest casualty was Tony Angelo from Drift Alliance as he overturned his car after crashing head on into the barriers in Turn 1. The causalities list kept growing until qualifying had to be postponed to Sunday morning.
Tengku Djan Ley was on form during practice session and stamped his authority during qualifying with the highest score of 98 points. During the top 16 round however, he was put through the paces when he had to go head on with Michael Gan for 3 rounds before emerging victor. He also had contact with Hanizam Hamzah during the semi final which clearly irritates him as he gestured angrily at his rival. For the final round, Ser Ming Hui aka Ah Fai emerged victorious with an amazing drive during the 2nd run. Hashiguti Anderson took 3rd place after beating Hanizam in the 3rd / 4th placing run.
